Friends of Aztalan State Park is led by a dedicated volunteer board of directors drawn from the local community โ€” people who share a deep passion for Wisconsin's ancient heritage and its preservation for future generations.

Leadership Responsibilities

Our elected officers guide the day-to-day operations of the Friends group, from financial oversight to community engagement and program coordination.

President
Leads board meetings, guides strategic direction, and serves as the primary representative of the Friends group in community and governmental relationships.
Kristine Kust
Vice President & Volunteer Coordinator
Supports the president, leads in their absence, and coordinates the volunteer program โ€” recruiting, scheduling, and recognizing the volunteers who keep Aztalan thriving.
Kris Reed
Secretary
Maintains organizational records, records meeting minutes, manages correspondence, and ensures the board remains informed and well-organized.
Bob Persons
Treasurer
Oversees the organization's finances, manages accounts, prepares financial reports, and ensures proper stewardship of donor and membership funds.
Randy Radtke
Parliamentarian
Ensures board meetings follow proper procedure and parliamentary rules, advising on matters of governance and organizational bylaws.

Newsletter Editor
Produces the Friends monthly newsletter โ€” gathering stories, writing content, and keeping members informed about events, programs, and park news.

Aztalan State Park couldn't function without the dedicated volunteers who give their time, skills, and energy to this special place. Whether you're interested in trail maintenance, visitor services, special events, or something else entirely โ€” there's a role for you.

Park Maintenance โ€” Help keep the mounds, trails, and grounds in excellent condition for visitors year-round.

Visitor Services โ€” Greet and guide visitors, answer questions, and help people connect with Aztalan's remarkable story.

Special Events โ€” Help coordinate and staff events like Indigenous Gardening Day and other seasonal programs.

Administrative Support โ€” Assist with membership, communications, and organizational tasks that keep the Friends group running smoothly.
